Üntel Kablo has established a more systematic and strategic framework for its environmental responsibilities through the Sustainability Committee it formed in line with its sustainability vision. The company not only manufactures cables that transmit energy and data but also aims to build a sustainable future for a more livable world.
Taking an active role in combating the climate crisis, Üntel Kablo continues its efforts unabated to minimize its environmental impact by making its production processes more environmentally friendly. The multidisciplinary team formed for this purpose, known as the “Green Team,” consists of chemical engineers, data analysts, electrical and electronic engineers, and occupational health and safety (OHS) experts.
The committee is implementing its sustainability strategies across three main focus areas. In the area of green energy and decarbonization, the carbon footprint is calculated in accordance with international standards, and investments in renewable energy are being planned to reduce emissions. In the area of the circular economy and waste management, the goal is to reduce industrial waste and increase resource efficiency in line with the 2030 and 2050 targets. Under sustainable product management, Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) are used to transparently disclose the environmental impacts of products throughout their life cycle.
Üntel Kablo continues its efforts in accordance with international standards to enhance its competitiveness in the global market and ensure compliance with legal requirements. In this regard, the company regularly calculates its carbon footprint in accordance with ISO 14064 and manages its water footprint in accordance with the ISO 14046 standard. Additionally, the environmental impacts of products are documented through EPD certificates prepared in accordance with ISO 14025.
The company’s long-term vision is to become one of the pioneers of the green transition in the sector by achieving the net-zero emissions target by 2050. Under the action plan established to achieve this goal, the company aims to achieve 100% transformation in production processes and digitization in waste management by 2030. In addition, while the use of recycled and low-emission raw materials is being increased, plans are in place to gradually improve energy efficiency each year through data analytics-driven initiatives.
